Guacamole. Goo-ac-ah-mole-eh. It's fun to say, and even more fun to propel down your throat on a tortilla chip chariot.

Ripe avocado season is upon us, and thus it is the perfect time to learn how to make the best guac ever.

What you need:

- Avocado

- Tomato

what kind? idk, choose your favorite - I typically use Roma

- Red onion

- Jalapeño pepper

just a tiny one will do

- Cilantro

- Lime

- Garlic

season with: salt, pepper, + cayenne

What you do:

- Chop/mince/dice all ingredients*

- Combine and mix in a bowl

- Gorge

Mash after chopping to your liking. I personally don't mash much at all because I prefer my guac chunky.

*Eye out the portions - use more or less of any ingredient according to your particular taste. Avocado should make up at least half of the bowl, unless you want a salsa-heavy guac, which I fully support.

Here's the thing about making guac - you don't need to have all of the exact above ingredients to make it delicious. Have some leftover yellow onion but no red? Cool, use that. Got lemons but no limes? Nice, lemon-juice-it-up. No jalapeño but you don't really like spice anyway? Dope, nix it! You see where I'm going with this.

As much as I condone the mixing up of guac ingredients, I maintain that the recipe listed here constitutes the best possible combination.

It's simple, it's amazing - it's guacamole, baby!

**Approximate measurements:

- 2 avocado

- 1 roma tomato

- 1/4 small red onion

- 1 small jalapeño

- 1/4 cup cilantro, or to taste

- Juice of 1 small lime, or 1/2 large

- 1-2 cloves garlic
